Discovering the neighbourhood of the school and their homes is the first opportunity to showcase diversity in its ‘natural setting’. Creating awareness of different communities and their needs as well as showcase the communalities between them.
A visit to the Ethnobotanical Garden or the National Orchid Garden will not just be ‘a walk in the park’ but showcase the achievements that the garden has produced and how it has contributed to the growth of Singapore as well as the interconnectivity between plants and daily life, medicine, customs and traditions.

River Stories
To showcase how individual groups and professions among the early immigrants have contributed to the growth of Singapore we have designed this 2.5hrs long tour along the Singapore River.
The river has been for many years the lifeline of Singapore bringing together people from all over Asia and the world. The trail around the area will trace some of the individuals as well as entire communities that have made impactful contributions that left marks that are still visible.
-
Coolies and Culture Stories
To showcase how individual groups and professions among the early immigrants have contributed to the growth of Singapore we have designed this 2.5hrs long tour in the lesser visited areas of Chinatown.
The stories of coolies, rikshaw pullers and Sam Sui women tell of hardship and tough times, but also about perseverance, grit and the will to contribute to communities around them. Their stories shine a different light on places we took for granted.
-
Stories of the Royal Kampong
To showcase how individual groups and professions among the early immigrants have contributed to the growth of Singapore we have designed this 2.5hrs long tour in back alleys and streets of Kampong Glam.
Once home of Singapore’s royalty one discovers many significant venues and forgotten people that have not only contributed to Singapore’s development but made it an important destination for many travellers from neighbouring countries.

What was Singapore like in the 1960s and 1970s?
To be able to showcase what Singapore was like ‘in those days’ and highlight the changes that have taken place we have selected places that are the same as in the 60s and 70s but very much 21st Century as well.
Meandering around the river a, the former sea shore and Raffles Place the trail uncovers places that have not changed much showing that ‘those days’ can survive in buildings, remembered by their stories.
